Short: Time dilatation calculator V1.1 Author: atec5@yahoo.com (Attila Feher) Uploader: atec5 yahoo com (Attila Feher) Type: misc/sci Version: 1.1 Architecture: m68k-amigaos Introduction ------------ This program is based on Albert Einstein's Relativity Theory. According to it the passing of time is slower in a moving system, the time is used as a 4th dimension (3 space + 1 time coordinates). At extreme speed the time slows down. The dilatation effect is the most significant when the speed is not too small to speed of light. There are numerous scientific evidences of the theory, that demonstrated this interesting thing. Description ----------- This program calculates time dilatation between a moving and a stopped (relative) object. It calculates time dilatation only speed related (not e.g. gravity). Requirements ------------ It should work on any Amiga. Installation ------------ It is a CLI controlled program, just run it from a shell. Usage ----- Relativity [sc] Two parameters have to be entered, and the third will be calculated from them. Scientific notation (1.123456e[±]78) numbers can be entered at any time, but using "sc" the results will be displayed this way, too (suitable for huge values). Some very accurately given numbers may cause an overflow which results inaccurate values. The parameters are: Distance: -km kilometer -au astronomical unit (149.5979 million km) -ly light-year (~9.46054e+12 km) Time: -s second -h hour -d day -y year Velocity: -kmh kilometer/hour -ms meter/second -kms kilometer/second The constant speed of light: 299792458 m/s The results are displayed in all units because of high ranges. Examples -------- 1. We travel (at 280000 km/s speed) on a spaceship to Altair system (16.5 light-years far) and back, too.: Relativity -ly 33 -kms 280000 The third parameter is counted, which is the Time in this case: 35.4 years. This is the length of time of the travelling on Earth. Time of moving system: 12.7 years. This is our period on the board of spaceship (hibernation could be helpful to survive). Time dilatation: 22.7 years. Time difference between on the ship and on Earth, so we became 22.7 years younger than the ones stayed on Earth. 2. Taking a tour in our solar system on a "slow ship" to Jupiter and back, the results won't be significant.: Relativity -km 1260000000 -kmh 300000 Takes 175 days and the dilatation is almost 0.6 second. 3. Universe sightseeing tour (go for a photon ride) at near speed of light.: Relativity -ly 4e10 -ms 2.99792457999e8 or Relativity sc -ly 4e10 -ms 2.99792457999e8 If we accelerated something in some kind of electro-magnetic accelerator which could almost reach speed of light, we would get very interesting values. The time of light (or other fast elementary particles) is also an amazing matter. The enclosed picture illustrates the connection of velocity and time dilatation. Conclusion: Other main points of Einstein's theory that speed of light is limited, and an object with mass can not reach it, no matter how much energy is applied to. Unfortunately it seems to be true, another way has to be found to discover the universe. Maybe travelling like globe-lightning using more dimensions or do some space-warping like black-holes.
