DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Intro:
After a hard day at work I try to relax by goofing around with programs
I downloaded. Occasionally it's really a waste of time (no fault of the
program in most cases), but very often I get some weird idea of how to
use the output of a particular utility program in a scene. That's the point,
when I fire up MORAY the MODELLER and turn the night into day. Sometimes
the outcome of such a session is meant for data heaven, sometimes quite
sophisticated (at least in my opinion) and sometimes it's sort of
'quick and dirty' like this image.

Start:
- playing around with Chris Egerter's PROJECT GENESIS Demo resulted in
  getting some plasma pcx files
- one of them (plasma01.pcx) I used as heightfield (plasma01.tga) after
converting it with GRAPHIC WORKSHOP (Alchemy Mindworks)
- all modelling was done with MORAY 2.0 (SoftTronics).
Comment: Great software, folks. I'm addicted to it!!
- the space fighter(s) was generated by converting a 3ds file (3DSTUDIO,
Autodesk) using Th. Baier's program 3DTO3D (Comment: a priceless utility,
that came with MORAY 2.0; the result: a 237k udo file and a 2.9M inc
  file (see spltwing.inc).
- I used bezier patches as jet streams (I'm not so happy about how they look,
but I promise improvement) and added a really nice texture created
by Peter Middlestorb (look for POVPAT.ZIP containing GRID*.POV; praise him)
- finally the scene was rendered using POVRAY 3.0 (The POV TEAM).
Comment: Great software, folks. I'm addicted to it, too!!
End:
That's all!
