From roth@ens.ascom.ch:
the moon looks nice, but it shows that the light comes from a wrong angle...

From djconnel@flash.net:

Nicely done! The tree is quite nice. The building model is well
constructed, but the texturing could use some improvement. The sky
is novel, appropriate given the subject. The scene lighting doesn't seem
correct to me -- what is the light source? Finally, the topicality
suffers because the engineering aspects of the subject aren't stessed...
yes, there is a telescope there, but I see nothing extraordinary from
the rendered scene.

From castlewrks@aol.com:
This is an excellent image. The only issue I have with it is the way the
bushes appear to have been used to block the edges making me wonder if the
edges
would hold up under the same scrutiny the main building is given as the center
of the picture.

From agage@mines.edu:
Nice to look at, but there are too many shadows for a night-ish scene.
If it is dark enough for stars to be visible, one would expect the moon
to be the prominent source of light...

From sonya_roberts@geocities.com:
Gorgeous work! Extremely detailed, nicely textured...the only thing that
strikes me is that the trees (specifically their leaves) seem to be rather out
of scale with the rest of the building, making it feel like a large scale model
of a much bigger building.

From beliaev@utu.fi:
It's a very nice image. I have two things in mind though:
1. If the moon is on the background, where the light comes from?
2. There's something wrong with the texture of the building.

From kaustin@tgn.net:
The light doesn't appear correct in this image, shadows are going the wrong
way. The railings are nice, though the domes are a bit under-detailed and
the walls are too well-lit. I'm not certain how the outside of an observatory
is a great engineering achievement, either. That said, I think the image looks
good.

From chipr@niestu.com:
Wow, very nice image. I can almost hear the crickets chirping. Love the
concept.

From gmccarter@hotmail.com:
Wonderful observatory, but I cannot believe you chose not to show
the telescope! Fine grass. Nice trees, except the nearest which
needs "real" leaves. Convincing twilight look.

From wozzeck@club-internet.fr:
Nice pic. You managed to avoid all the artifacts coming from the tree
generators.

From ethelm@bigfoot.com:
The trees are lovely.
The moon is lovely.
Overall, an excellent image.Well Done.

=====
From bsieker@techfak.uni-bielefeld.de:
Very nice, but one is given to wonder how the moon could light the building
from the right side, when it is seen in the background...
Or else, why anyone would want to set a multi-MW-spot to the right ;)
Any way the light has typical moonlight colour it's just coming from the wrong
direction.

Composition and geometry are good; grass is great;
but textures looks a little flat.

=====
From c_et_d@club-internet.fr:
the way you compose your image is very nice. just one or two things : it =
suppose to be the night, isn'it too clear ? ; In the night, most of the =
light comes from the moon, here it comes from your right

From lpurple@netcom.com:
This gets all 20s from me (even though the trees have triangular leaves).
The modelling, composition, and lighting are all excellent.

Beautifull.
Notable for originality, composition, lighting, modelling

=====
From r@dial-up42.webbernet.net>:
Very good work. The moon with halo is a good detail. The grass and bushes are
very well done. The triangular leaves on the foreground tree are jarring with
the realism elsewhere, but the shApe of the tree is good. The detail of the
building is outstAnding, especially the rail. The image mapped bricks don't
work all that well. Perhaps if you cut 3d curved bricks out of a cylinder?
Good job overall.

I love this image. The best of show, by far. Wow.
