IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

When I read the topic for this round, I immediately thought of grand gothic
buildings, Venice cityscapes and the like.
I eventually settled on trying to recreate a slightly surreal Victorian 'Dome'
that I remembered seeing quite a while ago.
So I got myself together and started. A week later all was going well, but all
was going SLOW. I realized that with current
exam pressures there was no way I would be able to get such a complex image
finished in time, so I decided to rethink my entry.
I took another look at the topic description and decided to make an image of an
architect hard at work. Unfortunately, architect's
'offices' are rather dull on the whole, so I decided to create a stylized office
with as many cliches as possible :)
What I ended up with is an architect still at work in the early hours of the
morning, in a smoke-filled room, with streetlight
filtering in through the blinds - tacky, I know ;)

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

Nothing really special - All of the objects were created either in sPatch or
with CSGs and all made for this image. All of
the textures are procedural, except a couple of image maps (picture, clockface
etc). The smoke in the room is a simple
scattering media with, I think, five different densities - I just played around
with it untill I got a look I liked. The
streetlight is a point light in an emmission media with a lens flare placed just
closer to the camera. I have no idea how
this will look as my computer has crashed three times before it's got that far.
Due to the lack of time I've had to reduce
some quality settings, and the smoke haze is looking a littly grainy from what I
can see so far :/
The picture in the hallway is a rendering of the model by the architects desk,
and was rendered in bryce and then used as
an image map in pov.
Can't think of much else to add, it's a pretty simple image really. Hope you
like it!

Nb. Sorry about not includin the source, but it's such a mess it wouldn't be
useful to anyone. If you really want it, or want
an object from the scene, feel free to email me!
