TITLE: Beurk COUNTRY: France WEBPAGE: http://www.etud.insa-tlse.fr/~cussat RENDERER USED: PovRay 3.0 unofficial with isofunction patch v beta 14 by R.Suzuki (rsuzuki@etl.go.jp) TOOLS USED: Modeler : Xemacs 20.0 Signature : PovRay 3.0 and Gimp ( to include it in the final image ) Recipe : Gimp. Cropping : xv 3.10a ( Original was 960x720) Compiler : cc ( For external functions ) RENDER TIME: 1 hour 35 minutes and 36 seconds HARDWARE USED: Sun Enterprise 4000 IMAGE DESCRIPTION: When I was a little boy... mmmh... sorry, when I was young ( I'm still little :o) ), I've always imagined the sorcerers with cauldron. They cooked ...mmmm tasty... potions ( very tasty ), potions. This is one doesn't do anything, but it's so close from the one I've in my head since I've read my first tale... I put a straw in the potion because it's easier to drink something with a so bad taste through a straw. Good luck and don't spew up or it'll have no effect ! DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED: Let's describe the different objects that composed this scene : o The cauldron : Classical CSG object. The recipe have been drawn with Gimp ( Great software ! ) from gnu. The liquid in the cauldron is really bumped ( it's not only a texture ). I done this with the isosurface patch for povray ( Thanx to R.Suzuki ). o The straw : Two tubes and an articulation. The articulation have been made with an external C function ( Yeepee for this great patch) that return a bended cylinder with variable rays. Something that look like this draw : _., _.,-' / \ { Is it clear for everyone ? } \ /_____\ o The snake is the union of several C functions ( always the same patch ! :o) ) Its body have been made with a special one and the head with the intersection of an heart function and a scaled sphere... o The candles are from the include file written by Chris Young AKA Dastardly (thanx to him) o The eyes are... simple textured spheres ( yep true, no isofunctions ! ). Thanx to Yann Coupin for his help... o To adjust the smoke have took a lot of time. I've change so many times the values of the rotate, turbulences, ... that I can't remember the initial values I've choose. Xemacs is a great modeler, but it lack a bit of visual :o) tOrOne
