CHAIR: Michael Condry <Michael.Condry@eng.sun.com>

DESCRIPTION:

Recently many companies see advantages in using XML to represent data
for web-based information exchanges, such as in Business-to-Business
(B2B) communications. Strategies to address this are evolving,
expoliting different technologies such as SOAP; however, the problem
specification and protocol requirements need to be clarified by the
IETF community before solutions are considered. This BOF discusses the
problem space for B2B XML communications in order to determine the
problem area requirements. We will examine existing B2B approaches to
ensure that the problem space is well defined.

Our goal will result in a charter to formulate suitable requirements
for this space and potentially develop solutions that support these
requirements.

GOALS

1. Understand sample problems will including a business order request,
   Directory updates, others.

2. Key objective is to understand the requirements of the problems
in encoding protocols data in XML based data for business to
   business transactions.

3. View existing strategies to clarify requirments.

4. Consider the charter of a working group to create these requirments
   if appropriate.
