Paul Mockapetris gave a status update on communicating with OSF. He spoke with Walt at OSF who said the following: (1) DCE is technically superior in several ways | (2) DCE may prevail in market | (3) IETF should consider these opinions | (4) OSF is willing to make technology available for IETF use | (5) OSF deeply concerned about handing over change control | (6) DCE specs *are* publicly available | 6. The IESG reached consensus on the wording of the message announcing the end of the OSI-related WG moritorium. ACTION(Stewart): Send an announcement of the end of the moritorium to IETF-Announce in Paul Mockapetris' name. 7. The IESG agreed that Sun should be asked to include NFS in the ONC deal, but that the deal is still attractive even without it. The text of the letter will be reviewed by counsel as noted in item (8) below. 8. Lyman Chapin asked about the relation between the language that is already in RFC1602 and the boilerplate letter being written by the IESG. It was decided that RFC1602 should not have exact text in it, but rather should have a list of principles and a pointer to an external letter containing *sample* text. The IESG agreed that the "nobody but the IETF can extend the technology, even the contributor" statement is not enforceable. ACTION(Coya): Have the text of the letter reviewed by counsel. ACTION(Chapin): See that the next revision of RFC1602bis will contain | the principles agreed to by the IESG and a pointer to a sample letter representing those principles. 9. The IESG agreed that the time is right for a Last Call to be issued for "Draft Memorandum of Understanding Between the Internet Society and ISO/IEC JTC-1/SC6" . ACTION(Stewart): Make Last Call for ISOC/ISO MOU.
